Where's my desire to write?

I was extremely ill Saturday, so I left the store in the capable hands of a friend and stayed in bed. I did work on Assignment 1 preparing it for a contest.

Yesterday and today I've gone between Hurricane Alex history research and Tropical Storm Debbie. She's up there where our son is camping with the boy scouts. Both days I haven't had the desire to write. Tried to force myself to work on Assignment 1, but ended up ruining it, so I put it away and will wait until the desire comes back. Maybe I need another good book to read.

Anyway, happy reading, revising, researching and submitting.

Research and life

Still researching for Assignment 6. Received notice back from my instructor about Assignment 5. I've been given permission to continue with Assignment 6. Yes! Ms. Clayton says this is a "wonderfully imaginative idea." So, I'm going to continue running with it.

I've had the tropics interfering a bit with my research and I still have eight days of blog to research. It takes me 2-5 days for each day of the blog depending on the time I have between customers. I'm glad Assignment 6 is not due until August 7th. I'm afraid I may have to ask for an extension. I have a thick piece of leather and it's going to take me a bit to soften it enough to sew it into a great story.

In the meantime, pray the tropics send their rains to Texas, they need it and we've been drowned these past few days.

Have fun researching, monitoring, praying, or whatever needs done the next few days.

So much to tell you

Where do I start?

Wednesday and Thursday, continued to research for Assignment 6. I'll lots of tidbits to use in my story. I'm really happy how this is going. Slow and tedious, but it'll make the story better.

Thursday, received some excellent pictures from the illustrators for Ten Little Gator Eggs. Can't wait for them to give me permission to upload. They'll be here: Illustrations

If you don't see them right away, please be patient. I've been told they can go up and am waiting for them to forward the pictures to me.

Friday, took the day to follow Gallagher and his "new eyes". Maybe it should be writing, but with the "new eyes" I hope I was successful in rewriting a travel experience that I entered into a contest. In the middle of the night, of course, a better way to write it came, so I'll make those changes and call it another version and wait until August to see if the present version did any good. If not, the the updated version is game.

Today, I'll continue researching. I've been grabbing the tidbits from June 21st since last week and looks like I'll have several more days before I can move onto the 22nd and so forth. I'm glad for the business interrupting me, but it sure makes the forward motion move slower.

By the way, listened to Neil Gaiman a couple more times before leaving the shop.

Happy writing, submitting, illustrating and researching.

Researching

I took Friday evening and Saturday off. Saturday I enjoyed a great meal at Samurai, a walk around The Falls and then headed home to pick up the children for Seminary Graduation.

Monday I spent most of the day researching for Assignment 6 and know I'll be doing the same for the next few days. Lots to get for what little will actually show up in the writing, but, I feel, that's what research is for. Know more than you need so your writing is intelligent even between the lines.

Listened, a couple of times already and plan to listen again, to Neil Gaiman give an address to the 2012 graduating class of the University of Arts. It's inspirational and motivating. Take a gander and listen to the whole 20 minutes. Well worth your time.

Happy researching and "MAKE GOOD ART" (from Neil Gaiman's address)

It's live

Ten Little Gator Eggs project is live. Check it out and pledge your support to help this book be published. We're excited to be working with the children of The Children's Gallery & Arts Center as our illustrators. A children's picture book, illustrated by children. A unique concept to support our local community and hopefully to start a trend across the world. Their artwork is so fresh.

Since Tuesday, I've been working on the Ten Little Gator Eggs project. Check it out:

Thursday, 6/7/2012 I finished chapter 12 for Second Chances.

Spent today researching for Assignment 6. There's still a lot to do for this assignment, so I'll be working on it in between Second Chances.

Almost finished reading Cutting for Stone.

Have fun reading, writing, revising and marketing.

I've been reading

Telling True Stories: A Nonfiction Writers' Guide from the Nieman Foundtion at Harvard University. The information is great for fiction as well. I love this quote I read today: "Good writing is far too complex to get right in one draft or two or five. Great writers are most often plain ol' writers who go the extra mile and then a few more." in the chapter Introduction  by Mark Kramer and Wendy Call.

and this one

"I have to write crap before I can write anything that is not crap, says Walt Harrington." He's been writing for over thirty years. No wonder my first drafts are a mess.

Did some minor adjustments to the wma for our kickstarter.com project. Still waiting for a response from my partners.

Not sure if I'll get anything done with Second Chances. Yesterdays plan didn't work out as we found three mockingbird chicks. They'd fallen through their nest. Mama must be a new mom. Nest was poorly built. We'll  be their surrogate parents until they're ready for release.

Happy writing, revising and revising and revising, reading and learning.

Second Chances and Ten Little Gator Eggs

I spent Friday and Saturday working on my revisions of Second Chances. Sunday I slept. I came home straight from church, after teaching the 5 year olds their Sunday lesson and crawled into bed. Woke up 5 hours later to make dinner and go back to bed.

Today I spent the day working on my wmv for my kickstarter.com project. I'll put up more information when I'm done. I sent off the file for approval of my partners.

I'm being released early from work, so I'm heading home to work on Second Chances in the, well, not so quiet home, but that's okay. I need noise in the background.

Happy writing, movie making, revising, submitting and contesting. (yeah, I know, it's not a word)
